AF Hub's Interview with Hot Toys' Sculptor Yulli

yulli

The sculptor for Hot Toys' The Dark Knight, Prison Break, Iron Man and etc. 12" figs is a girl. Quite the looker too.

Awesome!

Check out the interview here.

She did a damn good job with Bank Robber Joker's fig. And also Robert Downey Jr's face for the Iron Man Mark III. Can't wait for it's release.

New Shoes!

orange box

Sports shoes ones.

The last one I got for the Team Building thingy was terrible. I can't even feel if they have any soles to them.

Saw some discounted shoes from Al-Ikhsan advert in the newspaper last night. Noticed they hava a branch at the local shopping mall. So thought I just go there and check em out after my hair cut.

Well, the one I was interested seem kinda like the shoe that would crack after awhile with its material.

The nicer looking (and cheaper somemore) from Umbro is only for indoor. Courts only. So, not such a good idea if I am going to wear it around or occasionally for some jogging or some shit.

So this one from Nike, called Downshifter for running seems kinda ideal.
Downshitter

This is like my third pair of Nike shoes in a very long loooong time.

Absolute Monarch of Latveria

Doom VS Ash

Was helping out a fellow anon out. So, I did this.

"Miss Maximoff, kindly inform your associate that I am the absolute monarch of Latveria, and if he addresses me as "Yo, Threepio," "Hey, Tin Man," or "Domo arigato Mr. Roboto," I will remove his head from his body."

Classic moment from Marvel Zombies VS Army of Darkness.

Tick Tick Tick Tick

It's ok. It not your biological clock ticking away.

Clock

Just got this clock. Kinda fancy but cheaply constructed. Each panel could spin and fits back horizontally of each other.

The first one I brought back home has a problem. It would work whenever I'm around on a weekday, but when I got back home, it would stop at either 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon. But the hand that spins according to the seconds is still moving. Got it replaced and this one seems to be working fine.

Now, my room constantly has a ticking sound. It reminds me of way back when my mom has this small alarm clock that ticks quite loudly in the dead of the night, in which it doesn't really bothered any of us.

Do I really need a clock in my room? Maybe. Maybe not.

Rangers Strike! TCG

A few weeks back, I was browsing through Jeremy's Hyper Hobby magazine July issue. It came with a special Rangers Strike trading card game (TGC) booklet.

The booklet showed a complete list of second series booster pack cards. It also explained the rules of playing the game in Japanese of course. It introduced the artists who did the art for the cards. "Holy crap", I thought... "The art look damn cool!".

Since Jeremy only buy Hyper Hobby as a catalouge of some sorts, he gave me the booklet. I couldn't accept it at first, until he said "You better take it or I will just throw it away."

-.-" DAMN RICH LAH YOU NOW...

Took it back and look through it somemore.... that folks, is how the seeds of hunting down the cards are sowed. Damn.

Since my brother also have been collecting some Magic: The Gathering and D&D card games, I was blabbing away how cool the art on the cards are.

Recently found the cards selling at Jusco. At first only spotted the series 1 and series 2 booster packs. "Hhhmm, no start don't want to buy lah. Can't complete the collection also.".. until a few days later I found the starter decks hinding in a corner of the display shelf.

"SHIT."

Last thursday, bought them:

Go Go Power Rangers

From left to right: Series 1 Starter Deck, Series 1 Booster pack and Series 2 Booster pack.

In the starter deck itself, you would get a few duplicates. Since this is a TRADING card game, I think they purposely gave you some duplicates to start trading off with your fellow collectors.

SHINY SHINY

I got a special card and a duplicate of it. One's from the starter deck and the other from the series 1 booster. I think it's special, since it's shinier than the rest.

Some of the cards. Click for the big version:

The damn booklet. Heheh:

Front cover.

Deka! Deka! Deka!
Back cover.

And I'm even not a big fan of the show! Ok, I've watched the first and second season of the US version... and the movie. But that was it. Some of the design of the suits were quite appealing, like Dekarangers and Boukangers. But I didn't bother to download them to watch. But the art on the cards are quite cool. To me lah.

The official site for the TGC: http://www.carddas.com/rangers/

If they come out with a Kamen Riders version, I die lah.

That Walkman Mobile Phone That I Wanted,

S bought it!

Even though she's on leave, she dropped by at the office to have lunch with me.So sweet of her. Even though she will be going to Bangkok for her honeymoon later in the evening.

Went to Secret Recepie for lunch and that's when she showed it to me. Sigh, after turning the screen on, I quickly returned it to her.

"Don't you want to see what function it has?", she asked. "Maybe later... afterwards not willing to give it back to you."

ARGH! I'm so pissed with myself!

damn lah

Bought the Gundam Seed Destiny Emotive Figure Collection series 4 (see above) a few weeks ago with brother. Did a check on the spot at XL-Shop and I was certain that we have a full two set. Brought'em back and did not check again.

You know what happened? While trying to sort them out so that I can give brother his set, I found that we have 1 Athrun (first from the top row, on the right) and 3 Lunamaria (The one with the pink mini-skirt)!!!!!

Called Kenji to asked if he had an extra or something at the shop. Unfortunately, all sold out and there were never extras.

Sigh. Since Luna and Athrun both are wearing the ZAFT uniform, I must have not checked properly and mistaken them for each other.

Brother was totally cool with it. He asked me to keep Athrun for my set, since he know I'm an Athrun fan... so nice of him. But now I feel bad. Kenji told me that he would try to find one for me. Dunno how. Maybe from friends?

Have scoured the Net in hopes of finding someone selling their collection by selling Athrun only or with Cagali as a set but no luck. Animetech still has a full set but going for RM 100+. Sigh. Worst comes to worst I guess I would have to get one more set just for my brother's Athrun!!

Damn my eyes.

Prize Score

As a collector, at times I would come accross items that are rare and sought after by the collecting community.

How is it rare? It's usually due to the unpopularity(or that's what the toy makers think) of the character in which causes the toy makers to pack/produce less of the figure. Or they could just be creating demand, by supplying less of it.

I was at Toys R Us with bro. At the side Justice League Unlimted (JLU) 3 pack figs bin, there were a couple. The guy was explaining to his girlfriend on which is the rare ones blablabla... you know, the kind of things that I would type here and you would roll your eyes and thought "Oh no, another anime/toy post..." and just ignore the post all together.

The JLU bin looked unusually full. The last time we were there, it looked less full. So we thought they might have refilled it again and maybe there's something new in there.

After the couple left, we browsed through.

Bro spotted these:

From Episode: Hawk and Dove
Wonder Woman, Hawk and Dove set.

And also:

From Episode: The Greatest Stories Never Told
Booster Gold, Superman and Martian Manhunter.

I dug em out and found another set Hawk and Dove set for my bro. Brother wasn't sure if he wants to get them.

"Ko! The original price of the figs is RM 60+ and now it's around RM 25. These are rare!! I think it's a no brainer!"

With that reasoning, he decided to get them.

The couple came back and the guy stopped the girlfriend when he saw what we were holding. He decided to try his luck but, couldn't find the ones we had. If he had dug in earlier, he would have found em. Too bad.

*croses hands* WO~Hahahaha~!!!

Dude, if it's any consolation, you still get to go home with your hot gf. :P

The Fourth Day Of My 5 Day Weekend

The day started off with this: There are idiots, and then there are idiots. Okay, let's leave it at that.

Nothing much really besides cleaning up and trying to improve my relationship with Mickey by taking him out for long walks. Funniest thing ever happened is the below conversation with a friend on MSN, with permission of my friend to post the conversation of course:

Me: erm how do u feel if u see a naked female action figure is on display?

Friend: errr... HENTAIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Me: ahahha ok

Friend: huh??? wat??

Then when I'm back, talked about putting this conversation on my blog and...

Me: now where to put my man-thing other than in my pants hahahaha

Friend: swtzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz extra trunk /heh

Me: hahaha

What's with the "/swt", "/heh", "/pomg", "/pgosh" and such? Those are our customised MSN smileys.

Can't believe I didn't get it at first and I am the king of innuendo jokes. Must be my bangang side again. -__-' Man-Thing.... Just to show I'm really referring to my action figure, here's some pics I took. Man-Thing from Marvel Legends series 8:

Another close up.

It's really a great fig. Detailed and highly articulated. Forgot how many articulation points, but it's plenty. It's also comes with a nice base for it to stand on to.

While having the conversation, I was laughing out loud like an idiot and my parents thought that I've finally lost it. so, anyone wants to come over and see my Man-thing? I"ll let you play with it. XD XD XD XD oh gosh! dying... XD
