I Wanna Go Back To Newcastle

Saw Goal last week. It was shot mainly at Newcastle, due to the main character went there for a try out and played with the football team.

There so many familiar places that were shot: Quayside, the Millenium Bridge, the river Tyne, Tyne Bridge, the town centre, the train station the mention of Gateshead, etc.

- Quayside: On Sunday, usually I would go there as there is the Sunday Market over there. Sort of like a pasar malam, only during the day time.

- the Millenium Bridge: I actually watched it being built right before my very side. The security guard of our flat was kind enough to let us watch it by the cctv above the roof, at the foyer when they were building it.

- Gateshead: There's a very huge shopping mall there. Sometimes I would go there on weekends to shop.

- The Tyne Bridge: Depending on the bus (or where you are) you take to Gateshead, sometimes it would cross this bridge.

- the town centre: Aye, it's where the University of Northumbria at Newcastle is. Of course I would frequent there.

- the train station: Been here a couple of times. Mainly to take the train to London.

-St. James Park the stadium: What football movie wouldn't show the stadium? I never actually been in it before, since I'm not a football fan. But in the whenever there's a match going on, you would see lots of people walking to the stadium.

What I thought they should have included is the Angel of the North. Too bad they didn't. I seem to recall I have a pic of this huge statue. Maybe I can get it scan and post it up. St Nicholas Cathedral should have been in there too.

The movie sure brought back lots of memories...

"Remember, Remember The Fifth Of November..."

graphic novel's cover

Hey, saw the V For Vendetta movie trailer when I was watching Transporter 2.

It seems like just yesterday when the first news of V For Vendetta movie was announced that it would be in the works.

What's it about? Rip from Yahoo! Movie site:

"In an alternate timeline where Germany won World War II and Great Britain is now a facist state, a masked vigilante known only as "V" conducts guerrilla warfare against the government. When he rescues a normal young woman, she joins his struggle against the forces of oppression."

Based on the comic book/graphic novel written by Alan Moore and drawn by David Lloyd.Who's in it? Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Fry, Rupert Graves, etc.

Damn, I can't wait. I remember reading the comic way back when, but I couldn't remember what's going on in it. Good. At least I'm free of spoilers.

Here's the official site: http://vforvendetta.warnerbros.com/

Hope the Wachowski brothers don't Matrix-fied it.

唐山大兄*

唐山有个大兄~

Met up with my new Big Big Boss. She's very well dressed. Didn't expect her to show up here, but knew she's around.

She suddenly dropped by our office to wait for Tai Kar Cher and some other group to have dinner. My table was messy... covered with notes and print outs. -_-"

She said she heard there's a new Team Lead around, so she thought she dropped by to welcome him aboard.

Har? That's weird.

After a bit of conversation, apparently she thought I'm some new guy who just joined to replace Kar Cher. Hahah!

Been seeing her around quite often recently. Hhmm... maybe a good reason to keep my place more tidy. :P

*In case you're wondering, 唐山大兄 is the Chinese title for Bruce Lee's first martial arts movie, The Big Boss. Oh yeah, you need to turn on your browser's Unicode encoding to be able to view the text.

Ro*we*na

Bump into Ro*we*na, a high school friend while having dinner with Rach at McD's. She was sitting at the table opposite of us and I couldn't even recognise her!

I was munching and staring into blank space, until this girl came and block my "view". Rach even thought she wanted to asked for the chair. She said "Kawa!" I looked at her face...

Gee, someone sure is blinging alot. What the heck happened to her? Looked almost "aunty" like. :P

Looks like I'm not the only one who did not keep in touch with the high school friends. Rach said that she look pretty. Ro*we*na's getting married next year. Rach teased that I don't have any chance with her anymore.

EAT YOUR FRIES LAH AJI AJOH!!

告別

Kar Cher's last day with us was on Thursday. She was suppose to be around for half of the day but stayed till a bit later. She looked sad. Didn't know what to say to her except "all the best"... Fare thee well!

Had already moved to her cubicle. Always thought that the PC speakers were her's. Apparently not. Better ask her just to be sure. First song that blabbed out of it? Crosswise by T.M. Revolution of course! Theme of the PS2 game 戦国 Basara.

Poor new colleague Deekan (let's call him that) made some minor mistakes and it blew up on him. Must have been one of those times that a person is really "黒". He lost his mood. Told him it's ok, at times things like these would happen. Maybe I should warn him about the place being jinx, and not to mention things like "not many cases"...

About two weeks back, I cut my hair. Different stylist this time. The usual one was on her off day or something. This one, let's call her TT. My dad likes her alot. Why? She's from the same home town as him! Hahaha... yeah, at times it's sort of ridiculously easy to earn extra points with my parents.

Anyway, one of the first few questions (like, the second question) that she threw at me while cutting my hair is: "Do you have a girlfriend?". I almost choked on air.

That was pretty direct. For a few seconds I almost do not know how to answer her. Don't ask me why. Probably stunted.

Anyway, no pics. Slightly different style and definitely no mullet! Yay!

Router is back. Comp guy said nothing is wrong with it. He tested it with other modems. So, he concluded that most probably my modem has a slight minor problem with it. I guess I just have to get use to whenever I want to online, I have to go into the setup page; reset it to connect via router till the modem's totally konk out.

レポート

Urgh! So it was the time to do the monthly report. God, I love it. Right.

But it wasn't all that bad. Granted lots of data need to clean up. And just as long as I understood what those columns represented and needed, shouldn't be a problem.

Yesterday stayed back late till around 8:30pm to do it. Got stuck and decided to throw in the towel. Don't want to ruin the excell sheet any further.

Suppose to finish it by myself today. But then had to attend some briefing for 3 long fricking hours. So, Kar Cher just guided me through. Should be alright for the next month. Need to practice lor.

For the past two days, I've woked up with my whole body hurting. Dunno what happened. Voodoo? Friend says maybe someone 打小人 me. Perhaps I fell off the bed and got back up? No bruises. Perhaps I've been grappling myself at night? ROPE!! ROPE!!!

Yosh! Finished Gundam Seed: Towards Never Ending Tomrrow. Just noticed that the US version is out. There are quite a few game shops have the game on demo. Perhaps it's the US version? Mine's the Japanese version. All original BGM and voices are there. Heard the US version was buttchered.

It's one of the better Gundam Seed games out there. If getting to use Freedom Gundam's multi lock function doesn't make you excited, wait till you get to use....

Tonight we had a farewell dinner for Kar Cher at Soul Out. Tai Kar Cher even joined us. We had the Buka Puasa Buffet. Food wasn't that good though.

Things had started to slow down a bit but it will get hectic again soon.

Updates And Stuff

Hahaha, Bie!

Since I've managed to tear myself away from either from the bed or the PS2, I"ll use this opportunity to blog.

-----------------------------------

チームリーダー

Kar Cher is quiting. Apparently, for a career move of some sorts. She still have yet to tell me where she's going. I guess that's why she will always be a colleague first, a friend second. Now who was it who've said about trusting each other after all these years?

So, been picking up her roles. It's not like I have not done any of it before. Just more on the little extra side things like keeping processes updated, reports blablabla. Yeah, reports. People who really knows me knew how much I looove reports.

A bit of training the new guy. Kar Cher's the main person who train him. So far he's picking up quite fast. Should be. As he was an onsite engineer before.

He's also into anime, games, Japanese songs and most of all... T.M. Revolution's songs!! Trying to get him hook on Asian Kung Fu Generation. :P

Hhhmm, what else? Kar Cher's not the only person who's leaving. One of the Onsite Team Lead is leaving and so's one of his onsite engineer. More farewell dinner to attend and that means bye-bye money. T__T What to do...

---------------------------------------------------------

PS2

I bought a PS2? Nah, it's not mine. It's my brother's. But it seems like I'm the one who's hogging occupying it more than him. What to do, people have lousy hand eye coordination with the controller. I thought people who can drive shouldn't have a problem with it....

Bought a lot of games. But most of them seems like lacking in the oomph department. Either they are rehashes or there's just too much stuff to remember to play. I'm the type who play games mainly for fun and releasing stress. Who the heck wants to remember moves like triangle, triangle, triangle, square... pause, square, square circle, circle, jump, trangle?? I probably could but I'm just lazy.

Games that I've finished: Batman Begins, Gundam Battle Assault 3 featuring Gundam Seed, Sengoku Basara, Tekken 5

Games that I'm playing: Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Never Ending Tomorrow, Sengoku Basara, Destroy All Humans and Oaneecha Blue.

Games that are pending: Ultimate Spider-Man, God of War (stupid error in disc!!! GRR!), Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater etc.

----------------------------------------------------------

A Friend In Need

A friend who's currently depress due to work and relationship problems. Been accompanying her alot. At least she appreciates it. She asked me to introduce her a nice guy... hmmm do I know any nice guys? I only know one. But she had her chance ;P.

If a friend tells you that he/she is not exactly happy in his/her marriage, and is seeking your advice.... What would you do? I think it's a bit heavy for me to handle... He/she should seek a marriage counsellor? How reliable are these people? Damn.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Let's see if bro's football (soccer!) match is over... so I can go back to slashing 51412411 people and conquer Japan!! 天下第一, Showtime!!
